Al Olivar - seafront villa with pool and private mooring jetty in Meganisi, Greece

Inside: completed in 2011 Al Olivar encapsulates all that's best about contemporary holiday villa design. The main entrance leads into the spacious, open-plan living and dining areas and well-equipped kitchen. Wall-length sliding glass doors in the living area offer views of and access to the outdoor living and dining areas and the pool beyond. Also on the ground floor are two light and airy double/twin bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, the other with an equally spacious bathroom next door to it, also accessed from the living area. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathrooms and one with a balcony, and a large, comfortably furnished and extremely panoramic communal terrace accessed from the landing. All bedrooms and the living area have ceiling fans as well as air-con.

Outside: enclosed by its traditional Greek stone walls, Al Olivar offers total privacy and over 1.25 acres of space for fun, relaxation and summery pursuits. From the living area one accesses a fully furnished al fresco living and dining area looking over the pool, the gardens and the bay down below. An easy, wide path leads down through fragrant Mediterranean flora to the private seafront bathing area from where you can swim in the clear waters of the Ionian, or head to the jetty and take out Al Olivar's two kayaks or the Topper Magno sailing dinghy (the jetty and the dinghy are shared with Ondine, the villa next door). Al Olivar and Ondine are the only villas in the area with their own jetty, and guests who hire a boat may moor it there during their stay, explore the island by water and even sail to Vathi for shopping, lunch or dinner!

A panoramic terrace to the side of the house is home to a barbecue and second al fresco dining area, while aperitifs can only be taken in one place: the first floor terrace, from which, as the sun goes down, you may toast your luck at being in such a special spot!
